Driving Lessons Gloucester- Taxi Driver Strike Threat.

Taxi drivers in Gloucester have been told they must retake their driving tests every 10 years – at their own expense. The tests are currently priced at £112. New rules imposed mean that the testing will be carried out by the DVSA.
Some drivers are apparently not achieving the standard, and are failing the test, and this has caused threats of strike action by some taxi drivers.
It's not unusual for professional drivers to be standard checked to ensure decent standards and public safety. LGV drivers, forklift drivers, ambulance drivers etc are checked regularly and driving instructors are checked at least every 4 years by the DVSA, sometimes more often.
If your driving or instruction is up to the required standard then there is nothing to fear, but if not, then there is every opportunity to reach the standard with further training. Surely professional pride would be the only motivation needed to reach the standard, and impress the public.
All hackney carriage and private hire drivers licensed to the authority to operate in the city must take tests by October next year.
