Congratulations to Jing Wang, who passed her driving test today at Gloucester test centre in terrible weather. The rain was cascading down and it was blowing a gale, with dustbins and debris flying across the roads. Jing had to cope with more than the weather, as the test centre manager came along and was sitting on the back seat, assessing the examiner!
So, well done, Jing, all of us at John Lowe Driving send you our warmest best wishes.
Jings driving instructor was John Lowe.

The Structure of a Driving Lesson.
Your
driving lesson should be structured in such a way as to give you, the
student, value for money, and to ensure that learning takes place.
Many students become frustrated with their apparently slow progress, which is often caused by the way the lessons are structured, rather than lack of ability.
The driving instructors at John Lowe Driving will offer you fully structured lessons, with a beginning, a middle and an end.
Say, for example, you were to learn a manouevre for the first time. The lesson would be structured as follows:
The student will be involved in the lesson at all times, being encouraged to give input to all aspects of the task.
This method is a very effective way to really understand the requirements of each task and can be used in all topics when learning to drive. It has been successful over the years and we are proud of our 76% pass rate, when the average pass rate in Gloucester and Cheltenham is around 43%

Things That Annoy Drivers
British drivers have revealed the top 20 things that annoy them about
other drivers - and the number one complaint is lack of courtesy.
Whether it's failing to say thank-you when you let another driver pass or let someone out of a junction, failing to be thanked is guaranteed to raise the hackles of most drivers.
In second place in the league of annoying habits is other drivers using their mobile phone at the wheel, and in third spot is driving too slowly in the middle or outer lanes.
Cyclists register in fourth place when they run through red lights, and tractors that do not let queues of traffic pass bags fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 are bad parking, tailgating, throwing cigarette ends out of the window, not indicating and loud music while driving.
However,
that's not the end of British drivers' list of complaints about others
on the road, with not keeping pace with traffic in a traffic jam, not
dipping headlights at night, other drivers picking their nose, drivers
who don't move for emergency vehicles, and motorbikes filtering through
traffic take the next five places in the list. It should be pointed out
that filtering in slow or stationary traffic is legal for motorcycles in
the UK.
The final five spots go to wheel spinning, dirty number plates, spitting out of the window, drivers who keep changing lanes in traffic jams, and those who slow to look at accidents.
More unusual habits that annoy British drivers include Baby On Board signs and personalised number plates.
Mark Hall, from Flexed that carried out the study, said: 'There's a serious point to this as it shows the frustrations British drivers face on our roads every day, which could lead on to more serious incidents if tempers aren't controlled. It's very easy for us to suggest that drivers take a more relaxed attitude to their motoring when they've been stuck in a traffic jam for the best part of an hour, but it's something that hard-put road-users really have to take on board.'

Positive Feedback.
Last night we received a phone call which was picked up on our business ansafone. It was from a mother who had recently arranged driving lessons for her son, Ben, with us, John Lowe Driving.
Her son had been having "lessons" with another driving school and had been badly let down. His instructor had been frequently late, had cancelled the lesson at the last minute, been grumpy, and sometimes did not even turn up! Ben was completely fed up and disillusioned.
When Lis had gathered all this sorry information, she allocated Tom Lowe to be his driving instructor and Ben had his first lesson with Tom last evening.
This is the message we received:
"Please thank Tom so much, Ben came home smiling and said he felt motivated and encouraged about his lessons. He can't wait for his next lessons and will continue until he passes. He said it was a completely different experience to what had happened before."
We were naturally pleased with this feedback, but not surprised, as Tom is a first class driving instructor and customer service is normal to all of us.
This morning, Lis received a call from Bens father as well! Very pleasing.
